WordPress site blacklisted or flagged: clean it, then get the warning lifted
A red browser warning, a "this site may be hacked" label in Google, or a message from your host: these are consequences, not the problem itself. They are lifted by cleaning the compromise, then asking for a review.
Cleanup starts from $199. Review requests are made by you in Google's tools once the site is clean.
The kinds of warnings
Browser warnings
Full-page warnings such as "Deceptive site ahead" or "Dangerous site" before the page loads, usually driven by Google Safe Browsing or similar services.
Search-engine warnings
A "This site may be hacked" label or flags in the Security issues report of Search Console, and sometimes reduced visibility.
Hosting-provider alerts
A malware notice, restricted access or full suspension of the account until the site is clean.
Email delivery problems
Mail from the domain starts landing in spam if the infected site was used to send spam.
The order that works
Clean the site first
A review request on an infected site gets rejected and can slow things down. We do the full malware removal before anything else.
Close the entry point
If the way in stays open the site is reinfected and flagged again.
Validate the result
We verify the site no longer serves malicious content to normal visitors or to search engines.
Request a review
In Google Search Console, from the Security issues report, you explain what was fixed and ask for review. Hosting providers and other vendors have their own process.
Watch and wait
Reviews take time and no one controls the timing. Keep monitoring until the warning is gone.
Google's own documentation: Prevent abuse on your site, on Google Search Central. You can check how Google currently rates a domain with the Safe Browsing site status tool.
Flagged site FAQ
Can you remove the warning directly?
The warning is lifted by the vendor that raised it, after a review. We clean the site and prepare it for review; the request itself is made in your accounts, such as Google Search Console.
How long does a review take?
It varies and we can't promise a time. A proper cleanup first avoids rejections that add delay.
My host suspended the account. What now?
